Ningaloo Coast-- World Heritage Area

*Exmouth is the base town of the Australia's World Heritage Area Ningaloo Coast. It's on the tip of the North West Cape in Western Australia, 1,270 km north of Perth and 3,370 km southwest of Darwin.

*Located at north and west of Exmouth is 604,500 hectare marine and terrestrial property of Ningaloo Coast, includes one of the longest near-shore reefs in the world. Annual gatherings of whale sharks occur at Ningaloo Coast, which is home to numerous marine species, among them a wealth of sea turtles.

*On land the site features an extensive karst system, canyons and network of underground caves. Cape Range National Park, included in the World Heritage Area, features several hike trails and lookouts offering spectacular views over the range, canyons, Ningaloo Reef and Exmouth Gulf.

*Mandu Mandu Gorge can be combined with Yardie Creek Walk Trail and Ningaloo Reef Cruise in a day trip.

*Mandu Mandu Gorge is located at the western part of Cape Range National Park. It's 68km and 1.25 hour driving from Exmouth Township. A 3 km walking trail allows access into this dry gorge starting from the end of the Mandu Mandu track and follows the northern ridge of the gorge, offering stunning panoramic views. The trail leads down into the creek bed where you follow the base of the gorge back to the car park.

*Yardie Creek is located at the western part of Cape Range National Park. It's 90km and 1.5 hours driving from Exmouth Township. Yardie Creek Walk Trail is a two kilometre walk overlooking the ancient Yardie Creek gorge. It includes Yardie Nature Walk, 1.2km return and Yardie Gorge Trail, 750m return. With amazing views of red limestone cliff faces and the opportunity to see a wonderful array of birds and wildlife, including the rare black-footed wallaby, euros and red kangaroos. From the top, the views into the creek and out to the Ningaloo Reef are spectacular.

Kennedy Range National Park

Kennedy Range National Park is an outback national park in Western Australia, approximately 830 km north of Perth and about 150 km east of Carnarvon. Kennedy Range is found on the edge of the Gascoyne River catchment area and is a weathered plateau that extends for a distance of 150 km forming a huge mesa. Spectacular sandstone cliffs can be found on the southern and eastern sides of the range which are dissected by steep canyons which have an elevation of up to 100 m.

Getting to Kennedy Range: The Temple Gorge campground at Kennedy Range National Park is about 62 km north of Gascoyne Junction with unsealed road. Gascoyne Junction is 172 km east of Carnarvon with a sealed road. Carnarvon is about 900 km from Perth by Indian Ocean.

Escarpment Trail

(3.4 km return, 3 hrs)

Start at either Drapers Gorge car park or Temple Gorge campground. The trail leads into a narrow gorge that ascends to the top of the range for spectacular views. This trail is steep with loose rocks and travels near cliff edges.

Drapers Gorge Trail

(2 km return, 2 hrs)

A progressively harder route that features a series of seasonal waterfalls and small rock pools along its length. Walkers completing the whole walk will have to scramble up escarpment slopes and along rock ledges in some areas.
