The ship left Ushuaia, Argentina and started her Antarctic journey on 31 Dec. On the way down south, we celebrated our New Year on Drake Passage. The passage is infamous for its bad ocean conditions. We are fortunate to pass the dangerous water in fine weather and so all the way in the Antarctic trip. In the following 7 days , we visited Drake Passage, US Palmer Station, Lemaire Channel, Paradise Harbor, Neumayer Channel, Dallmann Bay, Cuverville Island, Errera Channel, Wilhelmina Bay, Piccard Cove, Gerlache Strait, Antarctic Sound and Admiralty Bay in King George Island.

On the way, we have experienced a lot of spectacular icebergs broken from glacial and floating on the ocean. Here are some collections of pictures that I taken in the week.

我們的遊輪12月31日離開阿根廷的烏斯懷亞(Ushuaia)，前往南極途中，我們在這以海象險惡航行危險出名的德瑞克海峽(Drake Passage)慶祝了新年，幸運地一路風平浪靜，而往後的整個南極行程亦是如此。在南極七天的旅程中，我們航行了德瑞克海峽(Drake Passage)、美國南極科考站帕爾默站(Palmer Station)、利馬海峽(Lemaire Channel)、天堂灣(Paradise Harbor)、紐馬雅海峽(Neumayer Channel)、多爾曼灣(Dallmann Bay)、庫佛維爾島(Cuverville Island)、埃雷拉海峽(Errera Channel)、威爾米納灣(Wilhelmina Bay)、皮卡德灣(Piccard Cove)、杰拉許海峽(Gerlache Strait)、南極峽灣(Antarctic Sound)及喬治王島(King George Island)的Admiralty灣(Admiralty Bay)。

在整個航程中，我們經歷了很多壯麗的冰河及從各方飄來的流冰，以下是我一星期來拍攝的部份流冰的照片。

Admiralty Bay -- (62°06'S 58°25'W) (-62.100000, -58.416666)

King George Island is the largest island of the South Shetland Islands, lying 120 km off the coast of Antarctica Peninsula. It is approximately 95 km long and 25 km wide with a land area of 1,150 km2. The island was discovered by the British explorer William Smith in 1819 and named after King George III. The island was first claimed for Britain in 1819, then claimed by Chile in 1940 and also by Argentina in 1943.

The ship has sailed to reach the Chilean Antarctic base, Machu Picchu Base in Admiralty Bay and explored the fjords of the bay.

喬治王島(King George Island)是南設得蘭群島(South Shetland Islands)中最大的島，位於南極半島海岸120公里附近的海面上。它大約長95 公里，寬25公里，面積約1,150 平方公里，1819年由William Smith所率領的英國南極探險隊發現，以英國國王喬治三世(King George III)命名，並聲稱為英國領土，嗣後智利和阿根廷也分別在1940年及1943年聲稱為其領土。目前，喬治王島已經有阿根廷、巴西、智利、中國、韓國、秘魯、波蘭、俄羅斯及烏拉圭等國，建立的南極科學考察站對該地區進行科學研究。

我們的遊輪進入喬治王島Admiralty灣(Admiralty Bay)的智利馬丘比丘基地(Machu Picchu Base)附近，觀賞峽灣冰川奇景及悠游的鯨魚。

Antarctic Sound -- (63°20'S 56°45'W) (-63.333333, -56.750000)

The Antarctic Sound is the stretch of water about 50 km long and from 11 to 19 km wide, separating the Joinville Island group from Trinity Peninsula, the northeast tip of the Antarctic Peninsula. The Antarctic Sound was discovered by the Swedish Antarctic Expedition under Otto Nordenskjold in 1902. Since 2005 cruisers have been visiting the area.

After sailing a whole night along Gerlache Strait, our ship turned right on Antarctic Sound in the early morning. We encountered huge icebergs and dense fog. It's unsafe to proceed her voyage. The cruiser turned back after 2 hours trip.

南極峽灣-- (63°20'S 56°45'W) (-63.333333, -56.750000)

南極峽灣(Antarctic Sound)是長50公里，寬11至19公里的海峽，在南極半島尖端附近，分離南極半島的Trinity半島和最東北端的Joinville島群(主要有四個大島)。南極峽灣在1902年由Otto Nordenskjold所率領的瑞典南極探險隊發現，自2005年後，開始有旅客遊輪進入此峽灣。我們的遊輪經過整夜航行於Gerlache海峽後，右轉入南極峽灣，船在峽灣航行兩個小時後，遇到巨大流冰及濃霧，為安全考量縮短行程回航。
